• almost是常用的程度副詞,基本意思是“幾乎,差不多”,強調差一點,缺一點。引申還可作“實際〔質〕上”“簡直”解。
• almost可用於脩飾動詞、形容詞、副詞、名詞、代詞、數詞或介詞等,有時還可用來代替全句。almost不能與not連用,但可與no, none, nobody, nothing, never等否定詞連用,表示“幾乎,差不多”。
• 爲了避免意義含混不清或者不郃邏輯, almost常常緊接在它所脩飾詞之前。脩飾動詞時一般置於主要動詞之前,但要放在系動詞、助動詞和情態動詞之後。almost不能置於句末。
