常用用法

vacation的基本意思是“假期,休假”,主要用于大学停课放假长达多周的假日或法院停止开庭,在美式英语中,凡是较长时间的休假都可用这个词。
在固定短语on vacation中, vacation前不用冠词; 在get a vacation, spend a vacation, take a vacation等短语中, vacation须用不定冠词a; 而在long vacation,Christmas vacation等短语前通常有定冠词the。
一般很少在vacation前加the。They are on vacation. 他们正在度假中。
vacation前也有加the的时候，如the summer vacation和the Christmas vacation；
英式英语中，vacation一般表示法院和大学的假期，而美式英语中，vacation表示任何假期；
在美国，vacation作动词时指“休假”。They are vacationing at the seaside. 他们在海边休假。
